Hearts of Gold is delighted to renew its Christmas Giving Program in the 2016 year. Thanks to the generosity from Hearts of Gold community, we were able to deliver 250 candy bags and 65 Christmas baskets this year.
Giving a Christmas basket, known as “Canasta” in Spanish, is an Ecuadorian Christmas tradition. Baskets full of goodies are exchanged between loved ones, or are given by businesses to their employees. This year the Hearts of Gold Canastas included food staples for families living in poverty. Living essentials such as rice, beans, and milk were included in the package to focus on the nutrition and sustenance of the family. 65 canastas were delivered to the families of CETAP-lucy in Chilcapamba and El Arenal of Feria Libre.
The candy bags, also known as “caramelos,” are also an Ecuadorian tradition at Christmas time. Hearts of Gold delivered a total of 250 caramelos to the children of NOVA inclusion school, CETAP-Lucy, and El Arenal.
Thank you to the staff and families of El Arenal, NOVA, and CETAP-Lucy for inviting Hearts of Gold to their Christmas programs. We enjoyed the special songs, dances, and laughter shared by all.
Thanks to all who have supported the Christmas Giving Program and brought many smiles to the children and families of Cuenca!
From our hearts to yours, Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones! undefined
